The plot of this team building game:

Waves of dangerous infection of unknown origin could plunge the world into disaster. Professor Robert Sens and his team – who were working on the antiserum – were abducted two weeks ago. In addition, the six most dangerous mutations in the Ebola virus were stolen from his laboratory. Currently, the spread of these viruses has been reported in the world. The epidemic is spreading unstoppably. The WHO (World Health Organization) has not yet been able to determine which of the 6 mutants is causing the disease, so it has not been able to prepare the antiserum to stop the epidemic.

Agent Smith by WHO, sends several teams to the lab to decode the viruses and create a suitable antibody. After briefing, the teams must penetrate the lab to look for clues, complete the mission, and hand him the antiserum at the end of the game.

Each team is given the same set of tasks, but each team advances to a solution on a separate “virtual” track. These tracks are marked with 15 different city names. The cities where players are fighting the spread of the epidemic are: Budapest, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Zurich, Vienna, Brussels, Copenhagen, Cairo, Dubai, Tunis, Camp de Mar, Munich, Hammamet, Riyadh, Salalah.

The team wins that:

  • decodes the antiserum and passes it to Agent Smith as soon as possible – (the time limit can be set to 60 or 90 minutes in the admin interface),
  • and acquires the fewest infections at work…

IMPORTANT: Our game development had been completed in the beginning of December 2019, when we did not even know about the infections caused by COVID-19, the epidemic did not escalate to a pandemic.

Details about this team-building game

The price of the team-building game titled “SAVE MANKIND from the Epidemic!” includes following :

  • Preliminary consultation, needs assessment, and elements and solutions tailored to the customer’s needs.
  • Providing access to the game application for team. A prerequisite for this is that the free “Nyomozz Velünk” framework application is pre-installed on the device.
  • More than 40 analog game elements, all of which are needed to play the game: a locked bag, printed materials, writing aids, writing instruments, and more.

Items not included in the price of the team building game:

  • Since our game is based on the BOD (Bring your Own Device) principle, each team need to have one mobile device to play on. We recommend using a device with the largest possible screen size – Android tablet, iPad
  • Room rental
  • Supply
  • Individual or group insurance

Step 1: Download the app framework

After the agreement, and at least two days before the team game is played, it is necessary to download the free “Nyomozz Velünk” framework app from the Google Play and Apple iTunes stores. All team members can do this even without registration to get acquainted with the application’s interface and functions.
To play a team game, however, it is recommended to use a larger screen device (Andriod tablet or iPad) per team so that all team members can easily see the screen.

Step 2: Registration

After accepting the Privacy Statement, a team member must register in the application. We recommend that this person be the pre-selected team leader and enter the fantasy name of your team in the “Username” field so that the game master can easily identify the team.

The team leader must send the “Username”, ie Team name and registered e-mail, to the e-mail address hello@ar-game.hu at least one day before the start of the game, so that the game master can assign it to the given course.

In his reply message, the game master sends a short Team Game description and asks the team leader to share it with his teammates. The registration can be transferred to another device at any time. Should the battery run out, you can use the registration information to continue playing on another device. A spare battery is not required, but the charge must be at least 70%.

Step 3: Tutorial / Instructions
Before starting the game the game master (Agent Smith) describes the “crisis” situation, gives a briefing, and answers questions about the app and gameplay, and then asks the teams to update the game list on the mobile device.

Step 4: Team game data package download
Teams must load the team game data package onto the device with a live data connection (WIFI or mobilnet). The game master will illustrate how to do this. Players’ progress can be tracked by the game master if all devices are constantly connected to the Internet during the gameplay.

Step 5: Gameplay
During the game, the teams must follow the instructions received in the Mobile Human Health Controller (MHHC) which is the application itself and work together to solve the tasks within the time limit.

Step 6: End game
The winner is the team that first passes the correctly decoded antiserum to Agent Smith within the time limit and gets the fewest infections at work.

Q: How is this team-building game different from others on the market?
A: We have made our game more enjoyable and unique with a combination of digital and analog elements.
Signs should be sought and attention should be extended to every detail.
We offer a real FLOW and AHA! experience.
And what’s new in our game is the application of augmented reality.

Q: What is Augmented Reality (AR)?
A: Augmented reality is the integration of digital information with the user’s environment in real time. Unlike virtual reality, which creates a totally artificial environment, augmented reality uses the existing environment and overlays new information on top of it. AR applications for smartphones typically include global positioning system (GPS) to pinpoint the user’s location and its compass to detect device orientation. Sophisticated AR programs include machine vision, object recognition. One of the most know AR game is Pokémon Go, but in our games we will not chase Pikachu 🙂

Q: Who do you recommend this team-building game for?
A: For employees of multinational companies, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, event agencies, groups of friends, hotel guests on rainy days. We also recommend it as a module of the organizational development process, as a separate training throughout the year. In case of favorable weather, it can also be played in a well-prepared outdoor location if the Internet connection of the mobile devices is provided.

Q: Where can the game be played?
A: The game can be played anywhere, regardless of location: you can play it indoors or outdoors without having to change any settings.
Riddles and hints are hidden on the lab map and in the application tasks, just like in an escape room. The map of the laboratory is built into the application and is also available in printed form.

Q: What tools will the teams need?
A: Only one smartphone or tablet with a live internet connection per team.

Q: How difficult are the tasks?
A: The game does not require lexical knowledge. Among the tasks there are simple but also very complex ones that players can only solve with coordinated teamwork, comparing analog and digital elements.

The varied tasks challenge the participants in different ways.

The development of an antidote within a time limit will be successful through effective collaboration that increases team spirit. Teams need to crack codes, find connections, and solve puzzles.

Q: What is the ideal number per team?
A: The ideal number is 7 people a team, because the abducted laboratory staff consisted of 7 people, but a minimum of 4 people is recommended.

Each member of the 7-person teams will receive a pass from Professor Sens’s staff. Each participant has strengths in different areas that will be needed to complete the mission. To achieve their goal, participants need to work together because the mission can be completed only with real teamwork.

Q: Can teams ask for help if they are stuck?
A: Yes. The app has a fully automated help system built in that offers simple and more serious tips, helping teams when they get stuck.

However, this comes at a price: when participants seek help, they lose time and the number of infected persons increase.

Q: What happens if the available time has elapsed but one or more teams have not yet successfully completed all the tasks?
A: In this case, the game master will extend the playing time, so that the remaining tasks will be active again and can be solved, thus avoiding frustration. Optionalély we can agreed that we set no time limit for the gameplay.

Q: How many times can the game be played?
A: With the unique code received from the game master, it is only possible to play each game once. The game expires when the team has found the final solution, so another team can no longer play with the same code.

Our demo game, which can be downloaded for free, serves the purpose of allowing anyone to familiarize themselves with the types of tasks used in the program, the areas of use, and possibilities. While playing the demo, you can also get your own experience of the excitement and difficulty of the game and, we hope, get a flow experience.
